Wedding in castiglione d'orcia

The Castiglione d’Orcia goes from the typical smooth hills in the valley of Val d’Orcia to the green mountainous woodlands of Monte Amiata. In the downhill, on what remains of the via Francigena, the well preserved medieval posts were used by the pilgrims to stop during their journey to Rome. The village of Rocca d’Orcia  shows the magnificent fortress where Sain Catherine lived and where the wellknown  Cartha Libertais was signed at the end of the 13th century.
Castiglione d’Orcia is a well preserved Middle Ages village, full of suggestive corners, old palaces and Churches where you can admire the Virgin mary by Pietro Lorenzetti and Simone Martini.


This area is full of woodlands, smooth hills and green fields with yellow broom plants and scarlet poppies. Walking along the quiet paths surrounded by the ploughed brownish hill-sides is an extraordinary experience, as well as looking at the Fortress of Tentennano, the cliffs and the imposing of Monte Amiata.
Castiglione d’Orcia most famous local products are the extra vergin olive oil, the wine Oria doc, the cinta swine salami, ribollita soup and many other healthy and excellent dishes
